BP is helping the prophacies come true. We and our descendants are all going to pay a very terrible price for their greed and carelessness.
Anon,
ReplyDeleteWe cannot simply lay all of the blame on the greed and carelessness at the feet of BP.
We have to accept responsibility for our own part in this. We created the demand. We are the ones who have put more time and effort into oil & gas then into other, safer, greener technologies that might help us remove that dependency on oil. We allow our elected leaders to reduce regulations on these companies, and we don't enforce tougher oversight of them which allows them to become more and more greedy.
Yes BP owns this spill, but we own part of it too.
We've wanted tougher oversight and we've wanted stronger regulations but look at Cheney's secret meetings back at the beginning of the Bush/Cheney administration. When President Obama talked about possibly opening up more offshore oil drilling he spoke about reviewing regulations. Palin laughed at him and called it stall, baby, stall. Now she's saying he should have known they needed better oversight. She's obviously forgotten about the oil spills in Alaska while she was Governor. This is not just President Obama's problem. He is one man, dealing with two wars, a desperate economy, an overwhelming need for jobs. I would have been of the mind that there would have to be a method to clean up an oil spill if it should happen prior to it happening. However, BP FORGED those documents saying they could and would deal with a spill this size. BP owns this mess and so does the former administration. I won't blame everything on Bush but if your eyes are open, you'll see they gave the oil companies everything they asked for and more all in the hopes of enriching their own bank accounts. It was a very profitable 8 years for both of them.
